Courses offered for incoming students
Teaching Language
Most of the courses are taught in Spanish, although some are also offered in English. In the following sections you can see the courses available at Bachelor's and Master's level. Please note that the names of the courses in the lists indicate the language in which they are taught:
- if the name of the course appears only in Spanish, it is taught only in Spanish.
- if the name of the course appears only in English, it is taught only in English.
- if the name of the course is in English and Spanish, it is taught in both English and Spanish.
Remember that it is compulsory to have an accredited B2 level in the language in which the courses are taught (Spanish or English).
Please note that the range of courses offered may vary slightly from one academic year to another. The lists currently published on this page correspond to the academic offer for the academic year 2024/25. As soon as we have updated information about the academic year 2025/26 these lists will be updated.
Bachelor´s Degree courses
Bilbao School of Engineering allows exchange students to take courses from the different Bachelor's Degrees offered at the School, being able to choose coursess from different degrees. Please note that if you choose subjects from different degrees, there is a high probability that there will be overlaps in the timetables and that you will later have to make changes in your Academic Agreement.
Master´s Degree courses
Incoming students can choose courses from different master's degrees at the School, but if you choose courses from a specialisation master's degree, we will have to consult with the master's degree in question so that, based on your academic record, we can see if you have the necessary background knowledge to take the courses chosen.
As with the Bachelor's degree courses, you can choose subjects from different Master's degrees, or even from both Master's and Bachelor's degrees, but you must bear in mind that, in doing so, the chances of overlapping timetables increase greatly.
Courses in English
Below you can see the list of subjects offered in English, both Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
English Friendly Courses
English Friendly subjects are taught in Spanish, but the following resources are available to incoming students on request in English:
- Notes/teaching materials
- Homework/assignments in English
- Write the exam in English
- Resolving doubts with the teacher in English
VERY IMPORTANT: Due to these characteristics, if an exchange student wants to make use of the English Friendly resources, he/she must provide B1 level language certification in Spanish and B2 level in English.
Language courses for incoming students
The University of the Basque Country offers Spanish (beginner and advanced level) and Basque (beginner level) courses for exchange students who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of one of our two official languages.
The language courses may be included in the Academic Agreement, and 6 ECTS may be obtained for each course. Classes are held at our School, during lunch break, so that there is usually no overlap with the timetables of other subjects.
You can find all the information about the language courses here.
Project work
Students who so wish may include in their Academic Agreement a research project to be carried out under the supervision of a professor from the School. The number of credits associated with this work is flexible. When establishing the workload to be carried out by the student, as well as the final mark associated with the work, the professor will take the following into account:
- Number of credits associated with the work in the Academic Agreement.
- Student's level of studies (Bachelor's or Master's degree and year)
The work may be carried out in Spanish or English. To apply for a project of this nature, you must send the following documentation to incoming.eib@ehu.eus:
- CV
- Motivation letter indicating the area in which you would like to carry out the work and identifying at least two research groups in our School https://www.ehu.eus/en/web/bilboko-ingeniaritza-eskola/researchwith which you would like to work
- Information on the number of credits to be obtained and the dates of your stay
Bachelor´s Thesis & Master´s Thesis
Incoming students who are in their final year can do their Bachelor's Thesis or Master's Thesis at our School, as long as they can find a professor to supervise their work. We can help you in the process of finding a supervisor; to do so, we ask you to send us the following documents to incoming.eib@ehu.eus:
- CV
- Motivation letter indicating the area in which you would like to work and identifying at least two research groups in our School with which you would like to work.
